課程概述

Sustainable economic development! 永續發展 Inclusive Growth! 包容性成長

Economic development經濟發展, the process whereby simple, low-income national economies are transformed into modern industrial economies. Although the term is sometimes used as a synonym for economic growth, generally it is employed to describe a change in a country’s economy involving qualitative as well as quantitative improvements. The theory of economic development—how primitive and poor economies can evolve into sophisticated and relatively prosperous ones—is of critical importance to underdeveloped countries, and it is usually in this context that the issues of economic development are discussed.
International development is an interdisciplinary subject, in which approaches and insights from anthropology, finance, geography, health sciences, political science, psychology, and sociology have had significant influence on this subject, and are considered throughout the class. Now e.g. behavioral economics and experimental research play central roles in this field.

課程目標
Development economics provides several goals. The first goal is to ensure that students understand real conditions and institutions across developing world. The second goal is to help students develop analytic skills while broadening their perspectives of the wide scope of the field. The third is to provide students with the resources to draw independent conclusions as they confront development problems, their sometimes ambitious evidence, and real-life development policy-ultimately, to play an informed role in the struggle for economic development and ending extreme poverty.
經由比較分析了解經濟體因制度習慣自然人文地理因素的差異,全球各洲經濟發展程度的差異所在,應用相關研究法(例如行為經濟學及實驗研究法等),以達成消除貧窮 永續發展及包容性成長的目標 。
